How to Manage Your Graphic Designer to Get Great Design for Your Nonprofit

By Nancy E. Schwartz Nothing is as compelling as managing the design, of a printed piece or web look for your organization, service or campaign. It’s easy to get swept away envisioning the impact it will have on your target audiences. And the creative adventure of bringing that piece, or web design, to life, is usually a welcome change from strategic and administrative work. However, the excitement often fades when you dive into the process of finding, hiring, and managing a designer or design team. Let’s be honest. It’s challenging to manage a designer’s creativity into a design take that meets your organization’s needs can be challenging. You definitely want to give the designer the opportunity to channel her creative genius into something powerful. On the other hand, you want to ensure that she translates your marketing concept into something that speaks to your audiences and motivates advocacy, donations, registration, inquiries, or whatever call to action you need. I’ve run up against this challenge time and again, first as an in-house marketing director in several publishing houses, and at the Foundation Center, and most recently as the marketing firm point person for nonprofit and foundation clients. Over the years, I’ve devised a few strategies that ensure that the design process goes smoothly. And they really work. I advise you to take these five steps. When you do, you’ll generate the design results that make the greatest impact for your organization: Step One: Take your time to find the RIGHT designer. NOTE: Take this step immediately, not when you’re in desperate need of a designer. I have, over the years, developed a stable of about seven good designers. They are all the RIGHT designer, but not one of them is the right designer for every single design project. The question is how do you find your stable of RIGHT designers? You’re likely to need relationships with three or four designers. The number depends on the volume of design work, the range of looks you’re trying to achieve, and the diversity of materials and online projects to be designed. My situation is unique. Because I work with many clients with diverse needs, I require more of a range of design skills and price points than would any single nonprofit or foundation. Here’s how to find your designers: Step Two: Gather favorite design samples Keep a folder of favorites, printed materials you identify as good design in the same range as your organization’s image or the image you want to establish. Bookmark website designs in the same way. Make sure that some of your picks are produced by nonprofits and foundations. Step Three: Compile your list of prospective designers Contact communications colleagues (make sure you like their design sensibility first, judging by their products) and ask for designer recommendations. Get basic information on pricing, work style, and client base. Contact the communications director at those organizations who produced the print materials or websites you’ve tagged. Start by contacting the folks at organizations closest to yours in focus and/or budget. It’s most likely, but not a definite, that their designers are the best fit. Step Four: Hone your list to the top three or four by interviewing ten to twelve designers Contact the top ten to twelve before you have a design project ready to go. At that point, you won’t want to waste a minute in getting design estimates in. Here are some of the questions I ask prospective designers: How long have you been designing? With this firm/working freelance? Have you worked with nonprofit organizations? If so, who are some of your clients? How did you get into design work for nonprofits? Do you design for print and online media? Could you show me a few samples of what you consider to be your strongest design projects? What is the average size (dollar-wise) of your design projects? Take me through the design process for a brochure? How about an annual report? Do you have references I can call? Will you personally be designing our work, and be my point person? (for non-solo designers) These are the quirks you’ll face in designing for our nonprofit (explain any, from the Executive Director thinking she’s a designer–and putting her stamp on every piece–to a boss who always changes his mind completely on what a piece should feature when he sees a design concept)While reviewing past work is a very important consideration, be sure you also spend some time talking to their clients to find out more about their design process, working styles, and the results of the project. Step Five: Write a creative brief the moment you get a whiff of a pending design job A creative brief is the most effective way to get everyone (your colleagues and the design team) started with a common understanding of what needs to be accomplished. An effective creative brief gives the designer direction and provides your team with benchmarks against which to evaluate design concepts. Spending the time to complete a thorough creative brief will save you a lot of time up front, and ensure that you get the design product you envisioned. In two pages at most, your brief should: Define the project and its objectives List, characterize and prioritize audiences Present Unique Selling Proposition(USP), one sentence about what makes the organization, program or service unique List top features and/or facts about the program, service or organization, and its value to audiences Detail tone or image Specify budget and time frame Outline internal review and approval process These five steps will lead you to strong relationships with the right designers. As a result, I guarantee that your print and online design work will be more effective than ever in engaging and spurring recognition from your target audiences. Start right now by diving into the stacks in your office. It’s likely that, when you do, you’ll find some great design samples that will lead you to more effective (and maybe even less expensive) graphic design for your organization. Nancy E. For You There’s Rosemary and Rue

By Bruce Burnett For you theres rosemary and rue; these keep Seeming and savor all the winter long. Shakespeares words from The Winters Tale seem to indicate mild Elizabethan winters. Rosemary is a perennial in zones 6-8, but even mature plants will not survive a severe frost. If one is forecast, mulch your plant heavily. To avoid mildew, plant your rosemary where it will enjoy good air circulation. With adequate light rosemary can be grown indoors and can easily be cultivated as a topiary. The name comes from the Latin Ros maris or dew of the sea. It was later called Rose of Mary or rosemary in honor of the Virgin Mary because it is supposed to be the bush that sheltered the Holy Family on their flight to Egypt. Another rosemary legend dates back to when Sicily was ruled by the sorceress Circe (the same lady who turned Ulysses companions into swine), who caused volcanoes to erupt and plants to wither and die. She also bewitched folks into throwing themselves into the sea. A local blue-eyed heroine became blue-flowered rosemary and clung to the cliffs to remind men of the ever-renewing power of good in the world. Rosemary traditionally symbolizes memory and in Shakespeares Hamlet, Ophelia cries, Theres rosemary, thats for remembrance, pray you love remember. Rosemary is also entwined into brides head wreaths to help couples remember their wedding vows. Medicinally, studies show that rosemary improves circulation, especially to the head, helping to relieve headaches and to improve concentration and memory. A traditional European remedy for those suffering from poor circulation due to illness or lack of exercise is to drink white wine suffused with rosemary. The herb is also recommended for flatulence and heartburn and as an aid to digestion. It helps combat bacterial and fungal infections and makes a good antiseptic gargle for sore throats, gum problems and canker sores. As with all herbs, do not use medicinally when pregnant except under the direction of your doctor. Sustained contact with fresh rosemary or the use of rosemary scented cosmetics may cause contact dermatitis in very sensitive people. In the kitchen, rosemary is superb with lamb, pork and poultry. It also turns plain old spuds into a gourmet dish. Try this: Roast Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic 2 lbs. red potatoes 2-3 Tbsp. fresh rosemary 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic cup of extra virgin olive oil Salt to taste Preheat the oven to 375F degrees. Scrub the potatoes and cut them into cubes roughly one to one and a half inches across. Mix all the other ingredients and toss the potatoes cubes in the mixture. Add more olive oil if theres insufficient to cover the potatoes and the bottom of the pan. Folks who dont share my enthusiasm for herbs and garlic may want to reduce the quantity of these ingredients. Spread in a shallow baking pan and bake for about one hour, turning the potatoes once or twice during the cooking. Theres something about the camphor-like flavor and fragrance of rosemary that complements lamb wonderfully. Here is a recipe for lamb shanks that has the meat falling off the bone and will have your guests falling for your cooking: Romantic Shanks 4 lamb shanks 4 cloves of garlic, finely minced cup of stuffed green olives 2 Tbsp. of capers, drained 3 Tbsp. of fresh rosemary, chopped fine, or 1 Tbsp. of dried bottle of dry white wine cup of chicken stock tsp. Cayenne 2 tsp. lemon zest 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice Lemon quinoa (recipe follows other grains such as rice or couscous may be substituted) Fresh parsley sprigs for garnish Wash the shanks and pat dry. Bake, uncovered, in a casserole at 450 F for about half an hour. Meanwhile, rinse the olives and capers under cold running water then mix all of the ingredients (except for the parsley and quinoa) together. Remove the shanks from the oven and pour the mixture over them. Cover and return to a 325 F oven to cook for a further 3-3 hours. Serve one lamb shank per person, placing it on a bed of lemon quinoa with the sauce poured over top. Garnish with the fresh parsley springs and serve with a green vegetable such as broccoli. Lemon Quinoa Quinoa (pronounced Keen-wa) is not really a grain. It is the seed-like fruit of the Chenopodium quinoa plant (a member of the goosefoot family, which also includes spinach, beets, and chard) that has been cultivated in the Andes since ancient times. Quinoa has great versatility and can be used to replace rice, couscous and other grains. Quinoa is one of the best plant sources of high-quality protein. It contains more calcium than milk, and is rich in B vitamins, iron and other minerals. Quinoa’s quick cooking time is another bonus. Because some of the bitter saponin covering on the grain can still be present even though most quinoa is washed before being sold, you should thoroughly rinse the dry grain until the water runs clear. 1 cup of quinoa, thoroughly rinsed 2 cups of chicken stock 2 tsp. lemon zest 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice. To give the quinoa an even nuttier taste, after rinsing, dry roast the grains in a pan over a medium heat for four to five minutes. Then bring the stock to a boil while slowly adding the quinoa, lemon zest and juice. Reduce to simmer for 20-25 minutes. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork before serving. Rosemary also heightens the flavor of all root vegetables. The following soup is as nutritious as it is delicious. Cream of Carrot Soup with Rosemary 1 large onion, chopped 12 carrots, chopped 1 potato, peeled and cubed 4 cups of chicken, vegetable or herb bouillon 1 tsp. fresh ginger root, minced 2 tsp. fresh rosemary, chopped cup of heavy cream 2 Tbsp. of butter Pinch of cayenne Sea salt to taste A few extra rosemary sprigs for garnish In a large saucepan, saut the onion in the butter until translucent, but not brown. Add the carrots, potato and stock and cook until the carrots and potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes. Then add the ginger and rosemary, allow to cool and blend in a food processor until smooth. Reheat, but dont allow to boil while stirring in the heavy cream and adding salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. When serving, garnish with the extra rosemary springs. A Step to Spiritual Greatness

By Paul Boyd What is worse than someone who always wins? Someone who knows they do and gloats over it. There is no pleasure in watching these types. What we might otherwise admire is destroyed by the even greater contempt we have developed for them. So what if they are good? If they behave as if they rule the world, then it is not admirable. There was a famous heavy weight boxer who modestly called himself “The Greatest”. Before his peak he was certainly mighty at his trade, and had some admirable qualities. “The Greatest” he was not. Past his peak, with body and mind going to seed, his title was an ironic joke. There was nothing left to admire. What is admirable and praiseworthy is someone who, though excelling, is humble with it. They don’t strut around with self-importance badged on their chest. They only did their best. In these people we can admire the achievement, and also the person. We praise them on two accounts. Albert Einstein, considered one of the greatest brains of recent centuries, wrote: ‘My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit, who reveals Himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind’ Humility is an essential part of a believer’s character. We may get praise for something, but it does not do to bask in the glory and let it go to our head. Why should we spoil a good work? The Pharisees did some good works, but by proudly publishing their achievements “they had their reward”. They got the praise of men they wanted. They even thought they would get a guaranteed eternal reward because they were that good! No doubt they were a little surprised at Christ’s comments. Pride spoils achievement. It blinds us to our faults and makes us devalue the part that God has played. So let us not spoil our hope of salvation. Some of the greatest men in the Bible were only great because of their humility. Moses was the meekest of all the men of the earth – God’s words not ours. He had that poor speaking voice which made him feel he wasn’t up to the task. In fact, he was so humble and unassuming that he repeatedly had leadership challenges from those who felt they could do it better. Although he had good reason not to do so, Moses humbly took on the faults of others, and appealed to God on their behalf and his. What leader today would accept other people’s faults? What leader today became a leader because of their humility? What voters today would vote for someone displaying humility? What God admires is humility. We can all achieve this. Being humble is within the grasp of every one of us, whether we are incredibly gifted or good looking or whether we devalue our own abilities or lack confidence. One way to be humble is to remember past failings. The apostle Paul did this, bitterly regretting his persecution of the church. Paul may have been the greatest of the apostles, but he called himself the least. Some of the greatest men of faith were those who remembered their faults throughout their lives. In fact it was the memory of these faults that produced a humility which made them spiritually great. Sometimes God brought about difficulty and suffering in believer’s lives to help them be humble. Paul’s thorn in the flesh is the clearest example. I wonder if some of the problems in our own lives are to bring us kicking and screaming to humility? The good news is that we can use our faults to create our own humility. Let us not beat ourselves over the heads because of them, because we are all forgiven sinners. Rather we should have a healthy appreciation of our limitations, and behave as though we appreciate them. One behaviour pattern that doesn’t help is that of comparing ourselves with others. “Oh, we’re are not as bad as so-and-so.” So-and-so may well be chosen because we can easily match them. God’s advice is that it is not wise to compare like this. If we compare ourselves with Christ, that will soon wipe the smirk off our face. Humility with excellence is wonderful to behold. Strength and power in the hands of the kind and gentle is awesome. Knowledge and understanding only used for good is truly great knowledge and true understanding. Only God achieves this. The real gentle giant. Praise Him alone and not oneself. Christ showed the way. “Don’t call me good. No one is good but God”. Compared to God, we are bits of dust and ash. We are like ants. Less than a worm. So why should we boast? The first step to spiritual highness is through our humble lowness. This step is one which we must all take. Opening a Dollar Store – Don’t Forget the Music!

By Bob Hamilton Are you opening a dollar store? If you are, then dont forget the music! The right music can result in higher sales and more repeat customers. Having the right music playing in the background can make you money. When preparing for opening a dollar store invest a small amount to set your store up for music. This can be accomplished by installing a relatively inexpensive sound system. Make sure that there are speakers (We found ceiling speakers to work best.) installed throughout the store. Spots without music will cause shoppers to unconsciously move on quickly without examining products and without selecting products for purchase. Pleasant music can keep shoppers inside your store for longer periods of time. The longer shoppers are in you store the more they spend. When opening a dollar store you will soon discover that this is true for the majority of your shoppers anyway. Pleasant welcoming music brings customers back. We actually found that shoppers who returned to our store frequently mentioned the music as one of the keys to making the experience pleasant and one of the reasons that they came back so soon. Each return trip resulted in more sales. When opening a dollar store return shoppers is one of the ways that you make a profit. A word of caution; dont allow the part time cashier who likes punk rock to pick your music. Also dont select music that will lull shoppers to sleep. You want music that will keep the shoppers in your store for as long as possible. You want music that will keep bringing them back after opening a dollar store. Select pleasant, middle of the road, easy listening music. The music isnt being selected because you or your employees want to hear a favorite song. It is being selected to as a component in your overall store shopping environment. Music is a key component in creating the shopping environment for your store. Install a sound system. Pick the right music. After opening a dollar store you will soon find that shoppers stay longer, they return more frequently and they are likely to spend more money. To Your Dollar Store Success! When to Buy First Flush Darjeeling Teas?

By Benoy Thapa I know I am a tea merchant selling Darjeeling Teas to my clients worldwide, but apart from being in the tea business, I am first and foremost a tea lover myself. Tea itself has been attached to my past, present and will be my future. Once a tea lover, always a tea lover. Its an inner passion which follows like a shadow no matter where you go or how you live. Its an unavoidable marvelous addiction which is praised by thousands of tea lovers and only a tea lover can understand what is in stock here. This time, I would like to focus on a particular tea thing when to buy First Flush Darjeeling Tea? Many tea connoisseurs have asked me a question when is the perfect time to buy First Flush Darjeelings? It seems an easy question to answer and you may get easy answers from some, but when it comes to Darjeeling Tea the answer may prove to be a complicated and lengthy one. I know tea connoisseurs spend hundreds of dollars to get their favorite teas and sometimes its frustrating to get what is unexpected. Its the same grade, same flush and from the same garden, but the taste is not what you thought it to be. You might probably think that you have drained down your money, and you have, if you have bought a tea produced at a wrong time. In Darjeeling, if you take the case of First Flush teas, the production starts during the month of February (end). If all things go well (timely rainfall etc.) then you will get the best qualities during the peak months. If you get a tea produced between end of February and mid April, then count yourself lucky you will be sipping the top quality tea. Now the notorious polity of tea and tea merchants start to play their part in the drama. As soon as mid-April hits the tea season some vendors over crowd the tea gardens to get their share why? Because of the pricing factor it will be at its minimum why? The quality will go down. Why will the tea quality go down? After giving 4-5 flushes (here it means bearing new shoots two leaves and a bud), the tea bushes need some rest in order to prepare for the next big tea season Second Flush. During this period a particular green leaves on the tea bushes are in abundance locally known as Banji (Banjee) Patta. The word Banji is pronounced as baa-ji by the locals and also the tea garden people – its a Nepalese word. Its simply the new shoots (two leaves and a bud), but the bud would rather be missing and only the two leaves would be prominent a banji shoot. These leaves are not known to give good quality teas as the initial shoots, and so does it degrade the quality. When produced, the grades are the same; just the leaves used are different. Yes, some high end teas which specifically require two leaves and a bud are not produced during this period. The whole banji period roughly lasts for about 15 30 days and the banji time differs by marginal number of days from a low altitude tea garden to a higher one. Altitude creates a slight difference in the Banji period. Hope you get some idea now. Vendors sell the tea with the same grade name which is authentic, but the pricing isnt. Some sell it at the initial pricing of teas available during early production period. So if you purchase this Banji produce, then you would have probably wasted your money trying to procure your favorite brew. How to know that a vendor is not selling a Banji produce? Its a really hard question to answer, but will try my best. If you are a serious tea lover, then it is worthwhile to keep track of your vendors new teas proclamation date. If a vendor announces arrival of new teas during the month of February to mid April then your vendor has invested a lot in procuring the best teas you should go for it provided the vendor is authentic and trust worthy. If a vendor says, new teas will be arriving during the end of April then your vendor is probably waiting for the prices to go down and this would definitely be a banji produce. However, a case of concern is there when it comes to International vendors. Usually teas in bulk are sent in ships (containers) and can take about 1 to 2 months to reach a particular destination and you may think its a banji produce It may not be, it may be a pure First Flush product. All you need to do is calculate the time of arrival with the time of production mentioned above. How long it will take to reach your country? this info is your responsibility. Some vendors purchase directly from growers (and merchants like us who are based in Darjeeling) in small quantities and get their parcels delivered much faster through Post, courier etc. than the bulk shipments. These vendors are the best, but again the question of authenticity comes into play. After taking some rest, the tea bushes are again ready to bloom to glory and this constitutes the Second Flush when the muscatel character is thought to be prominent. Gardens with high elevation produce good Second Flush teas. Trying my best to let tea connoisseurs procure their best teas. Author: Benoy Thapa is a Tea Lover from Darjeeling, India. Your Wedding – Why Planning Is a Priority

By Eric Hartwell Your wedding day is one of the most important events in your life. In fact, many brides consider their wedding day as the single happiest moment in their life. It is no wonder then that there are many events planners offer their services to plan a perfect wedding for you. However, before you hire a wedding planner, you should first know the basics of planning a wedding. Of course, the first thing you should have is the guest list. This list will determine the number of people who will attend your wedding. The guest list will also be necessary to know because of needing to know the amount of invitations you should print. Because knowing your guest list is the first step in planning your wedding, you should pay close attention to the little details of who you should invite. The guests usually include your family and friends, but you should also look into inviting your co-workers and even distant relatives as long as it is appropriate to do so. You should not forget the guests of your intended spouse – you should know the number of people your intended spouse will invite in order to have an accurate estimate of the total number of guest who will attend your wedding. After you know the number of guests that will attend your wedding, it is now time to plan your budget. You should include every little detail in your budget like your wedding gown, the caterer, and the rental on the venue. But you should also provide some allowance for emergencies. A safe figure is having a twenty-five percent allowance for miscellaneous fees to ensure that your wedding will run smoothly. After all, you should enjoy yourself thoroughly on your wedding day without worrying about any problem. You should also remember that the invitations should be sent out in advance because they will have to be mailed to their recipients. Some couples forget that invitations usually take around a week or two before they reach their designated recipients. Some guests experience the problem of receiving the invitation on the wedding day itself and even after the wedding in worse case scenarios. However, this is NOT common but highlights the need for advanced preparation and planning. Through all the planning, one of the most important but most neglected aspects is the communication between the couples. Some men do not want to bother with the details of planning a wedding but they should be consulted about major changes in the wedding preparations. In addition, the parents of both the bride and groom should agree to the wedding arrangements. Failure to communicate in these instances will most likely cause misunderstandings that can lead to problems in the future. After the wedding details have been ironed out, the next thing you should do is plan for your honeymoon. Honeymoons should be planned months in advance because you need to have reservations in order to get the best travel deals and have the best room for your honeymoon. The most important thing in planning for a wedding though, is learning to enjoy yourself and love your wedding day. Before Entering Into That Payday Cash Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christopher_Luck]Christopher Luck Payday cash loans are starting to become the most popular way for people to borrow money. This is partially because they are just so much more convenient then other professional loan alternatives. A store offering a payday cash loan is almost as easy to find these days as a corner coffee shop. They are everywhere, and no longer just in the big cities. Theyre also popular because getting one of these loans is simple. It doesnt involve a complicated application, paperwork, or credit checks. There are alternatives though, and these are important to check out before making the hasty choice to run in to get an easy payday cash loan. First and foremost, do you really need the money? While running low on funds for rent is a definite reason for getting cash quick, as is needing food for that matter, but being the first to get a new video game or grabbing yourself a stake for a poker game is just bad thinking. Surprisingly enough, people do this and its not altogether smart; not because those things arent fun, but because getting them through a payday cash loan just adds a large amount to the final cost. If it is something that really cant wait then perhaps your boss can get you an advance on your next paycheck. A lot of employers, especially in smaller businesses who handle their payroll from within, are often willing to help out when its for something important. Obviously though, if you need it too often then youll just wind up getting on your bosses bad side. Alternatively try a family member or friend. A lot of us shy away from this sort of thing but money from a person you know will likely cost you a lot less then from a payday cash loan. Okay, it ought not cost you a thing. Just like your friends start doing lots of favors for you when they need something, you can do a few favors for them. There are even small loan offices and credit unions available for lower interest loans if you are willing to take the time to apply. These definitely cost money but nothing you couldnt afford if you were already willing to get a payday cash loan. Similarly, borrowing money from your own credit card is relatively easy. This too costs money and in rare cases may have a higher upfront fee then the payday loan, but a credit company is far more forgiving on late payments. The reason these alternatives are so important to consider is that a payday cash loan is a costly way to get money. Pretty much, you are literally buying cash. When getting a loan from a payday counter the borrower has to, typically, write a check for the borrowed amount plus a fee. After checking out the above alternatives youll see that the fee is a lot higher then a regular interest rate. The bigger expense comes if the loan cant be paid back on time. Usually the fee is just added on again and again. Within weeks the borrower can owe more money than any other loan would have cost after years. If money is urgently needed and there are no other means to get it, a [http://www.burbankgazette.com/category/finance-comments]payday cash loan is not a bad thing and its nice to know that the choice is there. Make sure you research the company you go to though, and make sure you completely understand the terms of their loan. Christopher M. No Weight Gain For Me This Christmas – How About You?

By Keith Watson I had a weight problem – notice the word HAD. As I write this in late October I am aware that there is just enough time (six weeks) if you follow my success formula to be totally in charge of your weight by Christmas. Yes you can go through Christmas without looking in horror in your mirror in January. More importantly the change will be permanent. Wow some promise! As a former nurse I should have taken a more sensible approach myself years ago BUT I was following fad weight loss diets that were increasingly the cause of my gradual weight gain. I cringe with embarrassment as I remember one diet that consisted of nothing much more than fruit what was I thinking of? I am normally sane. Do you recognise yourself in this pattern of behaviour? Concern about weight > make resolution to do something about it > follow the latest fad diet > great success in getting to exactly where you want your weight to be > return to original eating pattern > put on weight again. The cycle begins again. The real and most sinister problem associated with this cycle is that your body is adjusting your metabolic rate each time you go on a weight crash diet. Less and less of your food intake is being burnt up. Thats as technical as I am going to get bottom line your body needs less food to maintain the same weight and we already know how hard it is to eat less food. What a problem! Another issue with weight loss diets is that they cant be permanent because they are seldom nutritionally sound. Weight loss diets are unsustainable, boring and doomed to making your weight control an even bigger problem. So what is the answer? The principles are well known but they are incredibly hard to stick to. Eat sensible balanced healthy diet + controlled portions + regular meals + good water intake + moderate regular exercise. What can make this formula work? Here is my adjustment to that formula: Eat sensible balanced healthy diet + controlled portions + regular meals + good water intake + moderate regular exercise + HYPNOSIS + SCALES HEALTHY LIFESTYLE There is no excuse for not being able to find out about good healthy nutrition. Every health authority is desperate to give you their advice. Pop into your local health centre and you will be able to get excellent leaflets about nutrition and exercise. The media has countless magazines and TV programmes devoted to these issues. So it is a given that you can find out what to do. BUT Havent you got the same problem as with weight loss diets that the behaviour is hard to maintain? Enter hypnosis. + HYPNOSIS This has been the secret that I discovered by accident. I met a guy Adam Eason a leading UK hypnotherapist and began to understand that so many of our behaviours good and bad are controlled by our subconscious mind. Your subconscious can be re-programmed to support your desire to follow a good nutrition and exercise approach to life. The new behaviour can be learned in a very short time and the huge benefit is that it is permanent. To learn much more about hypnosis I suggest you take a good look around Adam Easons website. + SCALES The final part of the success formula for me was the introduction of daily weighing. The scales do not lie. It is an objective approach which will alert you the moment that you are over indulging. So cheers and celebrate Christmas without a weight hangover. I suggest you take a look at Adam Easons website http://www.adam-eason.com and in particular the six week course on weight control that changed my life. 5 Reasons Why Mobile Video’s Wont Take Off

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Simon_West]Simon West There are conferences being held at iHollywood forums about coming up with full-motion videos for your cell phone. This service will be provided for the new Nokia 3650 wireless phone. At first one might think this is a cool new idea and concept, but it is not. The idea has been around since the early 80s and it never took off then and most likely wont now and there are good reasons it wont, some of which are and not limited to: 1) The screen resolution is way too small to properly enjoy and view the full-motion pictures designed for large screen plasma TVs. 2) It can be almost guaranteed that if this movie was attempted to be played on another phone, the battery would give up half way, if not earlier. Regardless, even on the Nokia, the batteries can only last up to an hour longer after the entire movie is done playing (provided the movie is approximately 1.5 hours in length) 3) Lastly, the quality of the movie would not be so great, as referenced in point one, not only that but the movies will be in the RealOne format, which in geek terms means, long buffering time and very poor video quality. 4) The price of this is targeted at $20 per movie, because of the ease and mobility carriers provide for the content. This as we know, is more expensive then watching the movie in the theatres and almost the same as buying a DVD that you can keep forever or renting up to 4 blockbuster movies. 5) If there is a call or incoming message, it will most cover and block the screen that the movie will be playing on temporarily. These reasons are sufficient enough to not want to go and subscribe to a mobile content provider that are over-charging for a service that is not new or very user-friendly.
